Department Of Human Services Announces New Temporary Location For Washington County Assistance Office

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) has announced the Washington County Assistance Office (CAO) has temporarily relocated to 201 West Wheeling Street, Washington, PA, 15301 and will immediately begin serving clients.

“DHS works every day to ensure people in the communities across the Commonwealth have access to the benefits, services, and resources they need. By relocating our Washington County Assistance Office, we are able to provide enhanced customer service and support for the people we serve,” said DHS Secretary Dr. Val Arkoosh.

The phone numbers for the CAO will remain the same: 724-223-4300 or toll-free at 1-800-835-9720. Office hours also remain the same, 8:00AM to 5PM. Mail can also be sent to the new address, and mail sent to the old address will be forwarded to the new address.

The new location is accessible by public transportation, has free parking, and is located in the same building as the PA Department of Labor & Industry’s Vocational Rehabilitation Office, increasing access to co-located resources provided on site.

This location will serve as a temporary location for an indefinite amount of time while DHS works to finalize a permanent CAO location in Washington County. This location replaces the CAO located at 167 North Main Street, Washington, PA, 15301, which closed on December 13, 2023. Washington County’s Valley District County Assistance Office will remain open at its current location at 595 Galiffa Drive, Donora, PA, 15033.

Pennsylvanians can apply for Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and other public assistance programs at their local CAO.

Pennsylvanians can also apply for benefits, update their contact information, report changes in their personal circumstances, and more without having to visit a CAO:
