Department of Public Welfare's New Website Offers Easier Access to Array of Programs and Services

Pennsylvania Department of Public WelfareThe millions of Pennsylvanians who depend on the programs and services provided by the Department of Public Welfare will have an easier time accessing information through a newly redesigned website, acting Secretary Michael Nardone announced today.

“The driving goal behind our new website is to help Pennsylvanians more quickly and easily find the exact resources available to help them with their specific situations,” Nardone said. “The improved site offers easy-to-understand information that can be readily found with just a few clicks of a computer mouse.”

While the address will remain the same – www.dpw.state.pa.us – the site has a new look and structure, making it simpler for users to learn about the broad array of services and information DPW provides.

The redesigned site offers a more user-friendly method of presenting the information, organizing programs and services from the perspective of the consumer rather than the agency. By selecting one of the site’s user roles – such as a consumer, service provider or community partner – an online visitor can quickly learn about specific resources to meet their needs.

The new site’s home page better highlights DPW initiatives and the latest news from the agency’s program offices, while continuing to offer thousands of resources to fulfill the department’s core goals of promoting, improving and sustaining the quality of life and aiding the state’s most vulnerable residents.

The home page also includes prominent links to many of the most frequently accessed information resources, including directories of local service providers, frequently used forms and details on how to apply for benefits.
